Move both curve end-points inwards to set the significant Shadow and Highlight points - here it is the dark area around the yellow and the sun catching the little hairs to the right of the flower. This will immediately add contrast to the image (flick back to see the difference) - more in the highlight than the shadow, but then we have reduced it quite a bit - 15 points out of a 100 [The L channel in lab goes from 0 to 100]. It is also important to note that these changes do not alter the colours at all - they are held in the a and b channels. So now lets go for colour... |
